Zelda Dungeon is a Legend of Zelda fan website created by Mases Hagopian on August 19th, 2001.[1] The site's main purpose is to provide the most in-depth Zelda game guides possible, utilizing screenshots, maps, and artwork.

History

Zelda Dungeon was initially launched by Mases Hagopian on the date of August 19th, 2001. The website has a rocky history which includes seventeen different layout designs, several site mergers, three different major forum incarnations, and dozens of staff members. In March of 2008, Zelda Dungeon won Exploding Deku Nut's Golden Mirror Shield Award, a lifetime achievement award given to a website who has had significant contributions to the Zelda community.[2] The website currently stands as one of the most popular Zelda websites, reaching an audience of over 7500 unique visitors per day.

Community Forums

The current forum community at Zelda Dungeon was established on October 16th, 2007.[3] As of September of 2009, the forum has accumulated over 1100 members and 48,000 posts.[4]

Staff

Zelda Dungeon currently has ten listed staff members, including three active webmasters.[5] Below is a listing of the site staff and their duties.

  • Alder Dragon - Creates specialty guides for Link's Awakening.
  • Brandikins - Working on the walkthrough for Link's Awakening.
  • Caleb - Webmaster who is the master behind the design and coding of Zelda Dungeon. Caleb also writes walkthroughs, game content, and works directly with some of the other Zelda Dungeon staff members.
  • Dabombster - Webmaster who works on much of the Wind Waker content at the website, including writing the walkthrough. He also designs many of the templates used for the smaller guides.
  • Josh - Works with Dabombster on writing content for The Wind Waker. Also provides video material for Zelda Dungeon.
  • Kybyrian - Kybyrian has worked on Oracle of Ages content.
  • Mases - Webmaster who runs the day to day operations of the website, including providing news, writing walkthroughs, writing game content, as well as acting as the diplomat of Zelda Dungeon
  • Yumil - Writes detailed guides for A Link to the Past and Link's Awakening
  • Zenox - Completed a walkthrough for the original Legend of Zelda and is now working on the Second Quest walkthrough and specialty guides for the same game.
