Guide To Link Editing

  • Red Links: Any link which leads to a page which has not been created shows up as a red link. Red links can be helpful to tell other editors pages which have been linked to but have yet to be created. Unnecessary red links, such as those linking to deleted files and unnecessary articles however, are frowned upon and need to be edited out. Such links can be found on the list of special pages, with the prefix of "Wanted." Red links which lead to talk pages should be left alone, for there is a problem with Media Wiki if they show up. Please report any such links to the wiki administrators, so they may be aware.
  • Disambiguation Pages: If two or more pages shares the same name, such as "Zelda", a disambiguation page is made. Ex: Zelda: the game, character, timeline, or Wiki group. Disambiguation pages are created to show the pages which share the same name, and therefore, which one of the several the viewer may choose. Many disambiguation pages should not exist, because links should be named correctly to match the page the editor is talking about. Pages sharing names usually have a bracket in the title after the shared word, such as "(Game)", to verify the link leading to a the game in question instead of something like the character page. Such links can be created by typing [[name of page (disambig)]]. "(Disambig)" is replaced with the item the editor is talking about, such as game, character, or timeline.
