Dairas (ダイラ) are a race of humanoid alligators. They are expert axe-throwers, and their axes are so sharp that they are able to slice through most Hyrulean shields.
In The Adventure of Link, Dairas are expert axe-wielders and are the most common foe encountered in the tunnels and caves riddling Death Mountain. Some varieties actually hurl their axes at Link, and seem to have an endless supply of them, making them deadly at long range as well as close range.
In A Link to the Past, Dairas are found in the Dark World. They are pretty smart and will often charge at Link and try to attack him. A few sword swipes will finish them, yet the red ones may require more time.
