A Link to the Past

Template:Boss

Mothula (ガモース, Gamōsu) is basically a really huge pain, and is without a doubt one of the tougher bosses in the game. He guards the Crystal containing the Third maiden. He resides in the Skull Woods temple.

Mothula attacks by residing in a room with a moving mechanical floor, which has deadly spiked blocks all around it. Once the fight begins, the floor will start moving. The spiked blocks will also move as well, often moving right across and into Link's side. You can only do your best to avoid these. Mothula himself will also attack by spewing three energy beams at you.

Attack him by spraying him with fire from the fire rod. This is really the best way to destroy him, as bugs do not withstand fire very well. You can also attack with the sword, but this takes longer and is more dangerous. Keep hitting him with the fire or the sword until he blows up and gives you the maiden. Another way to defeat Mothula is to use the Staff of Byrna which damages him along with the sword. Another interesting and quick way to win is to skip the Skull Dungeon altogether and get the level 3 sword early THEN come back and defeat Mothula in very few sword attacks. Also, another way to defeat Mothula easily is to obtain the Magic Cape that grants invisibility. Finally, you can use the Golden Bee to do some extra damage.

Note: Make sure you come ready with at least one fairy and some Green Potion. You will definitely need them.

Oracle of Seasons

Template:Boss

Mothula guards the Bright Sun Essence in the Poison Moth's Lair of Oracle of Seasons. He is a large moth which uses Fire to attack Link. He also will send out baby moths to attack any aggressor. Using the Roc's Feather to jump to the platforms in the middle of arena, and using the sword when it lands, Link was able to defeat the giant moth. It is also easy to jump in the middle and freely attack it when you come up. When he is defeated he leaves a Heart Container and the Bright Sun Essence, which provides the warm rays which let young shoots grow quickly.

Boss Strategy - When the battle starts immediately jump to either the left or the right platform and swing towards the middle. As soon as Mothula moves jump off to the catwalk on the edges of the room. Repeat the process and attack anytime you get a chance on your way back to the middle. This boss will die off before you know it.

The Wind Waker

The Mothula is an enemy in The Wind Waker found in the Forbidden Woods. Not all Mothulas can fly, though they all can shoot out Morths, hampering Link's movement and making it difficult for him to attack. The flying variety will lose their wings to the Boomerang or will become stunned by a Deku Leaf blast, which allows Link to attack them. When you do attack them, they will lose their wings if they have any. If you want to finish them in one hit use a fire arrow.

The Mothula appears as a miniboss in Forbidden Woods and in Horseshoe Island and Savage Labyrinth as a common enemy.
