Official art of Ghini in The Legend of Zelda

A ghostly spirit that is a close relative to the Poe. However, they resemble typical ghosts, with a white body and whispy tail at the end of their being, and carry no lantern. They generally have one eye embedded into their head and usually come out when someone disturbs their grave, although they are known to openly haunt graveyards for any victims to do away with.

They are known to attack in groups, having a collective life force. When one is killed, all will be killed in the same instant. They can be dispatched with many weapons, but they take more hits to kill than most common enemies.

In The Legend of Zelda they are found in the Graveyard, one Ghini will fly around the screen and if Link touches any of the gravestones then a Ghini will appear and pester him. They are one of the strongest overworld enemies and take many hits from the Wooden Sword, but with the Magical Sword it will be much easier to destroy them.

Ghinis return in Link's Awakening, this time around they have only one eye in the center of its head. They behave the same as in the original game, they fly around the screen and attempt to do Link harm and if he comes into contact with any of the graves, more will appear. Quote from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap's Ghini figurine:

"Appears in the Royal Valley, Dark Hyrule Castle, etc. These dark beasties are attracted to light and if they attack you, they may suck your life away!"
