The Anubis is a mummified, jackal-like creature that resides in the Spirit Temple in Ocarina of Time. An Anubis only moves when Link moves and only attacks when he attacks. Whenever Link moves, an Anubis moves in the opposite direction, and whenever an Anubis is attacked with the sword, it will retaliate with a blast of fire.
The only way to defeat an Anubis is to use fire. If an Anubis is present, there will always be a fire trap in the room. Link must trick the Anubis to move it into the trap. However, a Fire Arrow or Din's Fire will also kill the creature.
Trivia
- The name and appearance of this creature is an obvious reference to Anubis, the Egyptian god of embalming.
