This young woman is the Sage from the Zora race that vanished when Jalhalla killed her. Her function as a sage was to remain in the Earth Temple and pray for the power to repel evil to remain inside the Master Sword. When she was killed, some of the power in the sword diminished.
Laruto's name is a reference to Ruto, who was the Sage of Water in OCarina of Time. Laruto had served as the Sage of the Earth until her death. Only her spirit remained, and she appeared to Link when he learned the Earth God's Lyric. She showed him who was to be her heir, and told him to lead the new sage to the Earth Temple.
Her last appearance was when Link defeated Jalhalla. She played the Earth God's Lyric along with Medli as Link conducted.
