The Hylian Royal Family has featured strongly in a few Zelda games, including Ocarina of Time and The Minish Cap. The royal family always contains a princess called Zelda, and usually a King of Hyrule. In The Adventure of Link, a Prince of Hyrule is mentioned. Zelda's mother has never made an appearance. Although, Tetra does have a portrait of a young woman in her room and it can be assumed that this is her mother.

Twili Occupation
The Twili race from lands west of Hyrule conquered Hyrule castle under the leadership of Zant, quickly defeating the Hylian armed forces with their unconventional arms and tactics, and forced the Hylian monarchy to surrender. The Hylian monarchy, after surrendering, existed as a figure hood under Princess Zelda, but the real power belonged to Zant and his army. After conquering Hyrule Castle, Zant's armies pushed swiftly east and south, until controlling all but the southernmost portions of Hyrule.
Ordonian Liberation
Midna, heir to the throne of Twili, was exiled and traveled to the highly isolated town of Ordon, the last major area in Hyrule not to fall to Twili forces. Immediately after the arrival, a small attack group of Gerudo horsemen entered Ordon. Midna defeated the small force, and subsequently Ordon pushed North into Faron forest, and liberated it from Twili rule. Rapidly, the Ordonian forces recaptured a devastated Kakariko village and restored its ties to the Goron civilization, allowing bombs to be manufactured. From this staging ground, Ordon liberated the rest of Hyrule, with Twili rule completely eliminated from Hyrule.
North-South Split
Hyrule was split into two sections, the northern section under Gerudo rule, and the southern section under Hylian military rule. The Northern section contained most of Hyrule's defensive and administrative structures, whilst the Southern section was the commercial and residential sphere. The Southern section had a large influx of Goron merchants who brought with them bombs from Kakariko, a powerful and decisive weapon not yet in Gerudo or Twili capabilities. South Hyrule was plagued by enemies on its Northern, Western, and Eastern borders. Because of this, South Hyrule maintained a very large standing army, equipped with long spears and chain mesh armor.
Ordonian Restoration
When Ordon and their allies finally captured Hyrule castle, the Hylian monarchy was restored. Little is known about the time directly following the restoration.

Attempts at Restoration
When Link of Outset ransacked and pillaged the forbidden fortress, he began a concerted effort to restore Hyrule's old monarchy to its former glory. Eventually, he defeated Ganondorf and asked the King of Hyrule to return to the throne. The King of Hyrule, however, refused, saying that people should not spend their lives trying to rebuild the past. He chooses to die with his kingdom as the last reigning Hylian monarch. Although Tetra exists as a proper heir to the throne, she follows her fathers decision not to restore the monarchy, and continue her life as a merchant. The Kingdom of Hyrule is no more.
There is no current proven family tree or bloodline, due to a lack of information regarding Zelda's mother, or either of her parents parents. Without this information, it is impossible to construct a comprehensive family tree.
