The Gibdo has been around since the very first Legend of Zelda game, and has since apeared in several other Zelda's, like A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask

In LoZ and ALttP, they'd just walk around, doing a decent bit of damage if one touches you. In ALttP, they have quite a lot of stamina, too, though they can easily be destroyed with the Fire Rod.

In OoT and MM, the Gibdo is an enemy very similar to the ReDead, in movement, figure and moans. If it crosses eyes with Link, it will freeze him, and hump him. Since it's very hard to defeat a Gibdo with your sword, it's recommended to use a Fire Arrow or two. This turns them into ReDead but still inflicts damage. One way to get past a Gibdo unnoticed is to have the Gibdo Mask. Also, in OoT, the Sun's Song will freeze them for some time.

In The Minish Cap, the Gibdo was similar to its Ocarina of Time counterpart, except that it couldn't freeze you or be frozen. You could kill them by torching them with the flame lantern. They would then turn into Stalfos.

Although the enemies in Twilight Princess's Arbiter's Grounds look like Gibdos, they are actually ReDeads.
