Appearing only in Link's Awakening, Telephone Booths are communication devices used to speak with Ulrira (he seems to be too shy to speak in person). Their main purpose is to provide hints on how to progress through the game. In this way, Ulrira is like Navi, Midna, the Old Man, and others. There are eight Telephone Booths located in various places on Koholint Island.

Trivia

  • There is also a phone inside of Ulrira's house that, when used, dials the number of someone calling himself the Bucket Mouse. After he hangs up, a message appears saying that Link must have dialed the wrong number.[1]
  • Telephones are among the most sophisticated pieces of technology to appear in The Legend of Zelda series.
