Phantom Spheres are given to Link by Ciela in Phantom Hourglass to temporarily freeze time, an ability that is imperative to defeating the final bosses. This ability is employed by drawing a figure-eight shape on the touch screen. Link can hold multiple Phantom Spheres at a time during the battle, but cannot use more than one at a time.

Considering that Ciela is the Spirit of Courage and Time, it is often speculated that Farore is the Goddess of Time described in Majora's Mask. A more popular theory is that this Goddess is actually Nayru.
