The Royal Tech Lab(TotK | HWAoC)[1][2] or the Ancient Research Institute,(BotW)[3] also known as the Royal Ancient Lab,(HWAoC)[4] or the Royal Tech Lab,is a recurring location in The Legend of Zelda series.
Features and Overview
Breath of the Wild
The Ancient Research Institute was a facility established for the sole purpose of researching Ancient Technology.[3] It was placed on the North Hyrule Plain in Hyrule Field in proximity to Hyrule Castle, one of three known sources of Ancient Energy[5], to remain under the control of the Royal Family of Hyrule.[6] After the thorough destruction of the Ancient Research Institute during the second Great Calamity, it was abandoned and became the Royal Ancient Lab Ruins. Robbie and Purah fled and formed their own individual Ancient Research Institute in the two other known sources of Ancient Energy, the Akkala Ancient Tech Lab in the Akkala Highlands and the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab in Hateno Village, respectively.
