Stone Monuments are recurring Objects in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][name references needed]

Location and Uses

Breath of the Wild

The Stone Monuments were commissioned by King Dorephan as an attempt to preserve Zora history.[2] The reason this was done in stone and not paper was because paper could be damaged by Water.[3] At first, the commission was meant to be a single Monument, but due to the sheer amount of writing King Dorephan wanted preserved, his original text was split among seven Stone Monuments.[4] Two additional Monuments were created to recount stories of King Dorephan and Prince Sidon.[5] The unnamed stonemason who made the Stone Monuments also made one dedicated to themselves, though they forgot to sign it.[6]

After calming Divine Beast Vah Ruta, Link can speak to Jiahto to find out that he wants to compile the contents of the Stone Monuments into a Book.[7] However, due to his age, he asks Link to find the Stone Monuments himself and to relay what they say.[8] When Link accepts the task, Jiahto will be relieved that Link will find the Monuments for him.[9] He also reveals that one of the Monuments has the location for a piece of treasure written on it, allowing Link to keep said treasure should he find it.[10] This activates the Side Quest "Zora Stone Monuments".

Once Link reads all of the Stone Monuments, he can return to Jiahto.[11] As a reward, he will give Link a Diamond.[12]
