Freezing Climates are a recurring mechanic in The Legend of Zelda series.[1][2]

Overview

Breath of the Wild

Freezing Climates are located in snowy locations, such as Mount Hylia, the Hebra Mountains, Mount Lanayru, and the Gerudo Highlands. Other Freezing Climates can be found at high elevations, such as Akkala Tower, Wasteland Tower, and the top of Hyrule Castle. When Link is in one of these Climates, he will begin to shiver and take damage.[1] This can be avoided by wearing the Snowquill Set or Warm Doublet or drinking a Spicy Elixir, all of which will grant Cold Resistance.[1]

When meat Materials are dropped in Freezing Climates, they will harden into Frozen Food.[3] Much of the Water will also be Cold Water, which causes Link to take damage when he Swims in it.[4]
