Biography

Breath of the Wild

Nanna is an elderly Sheikah woman who resides in Kakariko Village. During the day, she can be found sitting under the Tree at the Village's southeastern entrance. Her House is the one closest to this entrance, and it is where she sleeps at night.

In the past, Nanna trained under her mentor, Purah, researching Ancient Technology at the Hateno Ancient Tech Lab.[4] During this time, she found Purah to be strange.[5]

When Link first arrives in Kakariko Village, he will find Nanna injured and sitting on the ground.[6] If Link approaches her, she explains that she has twisted her ankle.[7] She manages to stand on her own and is embarrassed that a visitor found her in such a condition.[8] Nanna then notices the Sheikah Slate on Link's belt and hesitantly asks where he found it.[9] Once Link explains, she states that carrying the Slate means that he is the hero of legend.[10] She admits that not many people remember those legends, but she assures Link that her people have been waiting for him.[11] Nanna then directs Link to Impa, the leader of the Sheikah.[12]

If Link asks where to find Impa, Nanna will give him directions to Impa's House, which is located below Lantern Falls.[13] Before he goes, Nanna expresses how honored she is to meet him, though she believes he is used to such praise due to how long he has lived.[14]

Once Link has spoken to Impa, Nanna hears that the Sheikah Slate is not fully functional, and she claims that her mentor Purah should be able to help.[15] If Link asks about her mentor, Nanna explains that Purah researched the Sheikah Slate alongside Zelda, and she directs him to Hateno Village in the east to find her.[4] She also warns Link that Purah is odd.[5] Afterwards, she wishes Link well on his journey.[16]

When Link speaks to Nanna afterwards, she tells him that the Sheikah Slate was cherished by Zelda, and it contains many of her memories.[17] She believes that if Zelda knew it was in Link's possession, she would be happy.[18]

At 6:00 PM, Nanna returns to her House, where her granddaughter Lasli watches over her as she sleeps in her Bed. If Link wakes her up before speaking to Impa, Nanna will be embarrassed of her condition and apologize, mentioning how her mentor warned her.[19] Despite her weakness, she offers what aid she can give and will repeat her information on Purah.[20] When woken after the Sheikah Slate upgrade is complete, she comments how Link looks exhausted, and she encourages him to sleep at the Shuteye Inn.[21]

Could it be that you're the legendary swordsman my grandma told me about? The one from the Great Calamity?! Huh. I thought you'd be a LOT older. Honestly, it's hard for someone as young as me to imagine the Great Calamity... But...judging by the look on your face, I suppose it's hard for you to imagine it too? ... Seriously? Well...I suppose there are a lot of crazy things in this world that are hard to grasp. Oh, my name's Lasli. I run a clothing shop in the village with my older sister, Claree. You should stop by sometime." — Lasli (Breath of the Wild)
